I wrote this during the 2010 Chilean Mining Accident, and my goal was to write an instrumental song that embodied both hopelessness and hope with a promise of rescue. Your ears will be the judge of whether I succeeded. This short instrumental song is a tribute to the brave miners who were trapped underground for 69 days in 2010, as we who were above ground watched and prayed. It was inspired by rescue events following the Copiapó, Chile, mining accident at the San José copper–gold mine. Each segment of this song represents a specific part of the miners’ journey, from being trapped deep below the surface on August 5th, 2010, to making it to the surface alive on October 13th, 2010.
